In a world where seemingly mundane objects mysteriously vanish without warning, Life Without Stuff highlights (with astonishing scientific accuracy) what life would be like without stuff. Animation: Garth Lee SFX: Garth Lee

Ty Moore has been a Marine longer than he hasn’t. After 5 deployments he has seen his fair share of trauma in the theatre of war. Ty was trained to handle trauma. By his own account he isn’t afraid of anything. That is until the trauma was in Ty’s own home. Jenn, his wife, was diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma, a very aggressive cancer in her ribs. Like they have done throughout their marriage they persevered. They both thought this would be the worst thing their family ever went through, they were wrong. Shaving for Beginners is the story of Ty, a father, a Marine, and a husband, as he takes his brokenness from situations outside his control and creates hope for him, his family, and his fellow servicemen and women. Directed by Jordan Halland Produced by Luke Webster

A music video made entirely from wood for a song by bedtimes.xxx/music, WoodSwimmer is based on a concept I developed while designing a new stop-motion universe where wood is the primary element. The sequences are cross-sectional photographic scans of pieces of hardwood, burls and branches. It is a straightforward technique but one which is brutally tedious to complete. Oh hello lovely machine, emancipating yourself from function… You look adorable, you know? Yes dear, you were built to be autonomous, it said so in the campaign brief. No rush – getting from A to B was never an exciting idea to begin with, for your kind. Dance yourself clean, pull your metal frame apart and let the sun burn through your circuits. Ride your autobiography, guided by the beauty of your code. Fresh freedom smells like common place, and “authenticity” like a frivolous illusion of your makers. So your character was designed to be self-organizing: a beautiful homage to the combined effort of all of those minds that built you – considering your appearance being a quite sloppy imitation of life. Regardless that those who started this are no longer around: Still looking forward to your feedback. What do *you* think? Auto Nom offers an upbeat alternative on unexpected consequences of autonomous mobility. It is the latest work by ZEITGUISED’s new offspin f°am Studio, and part of a series of character animation narratives based on the personality of Autonomous Rolf. Written, directed and designed by f°am Studio, this fictitious self-driving classic german car gets under your hood with its freedom loving behaviour.
