Everyone has a name — and from birth through a lifetime of introductions, it becomes the cornerstone of our identity. For many Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI), their given names carry an even deeper history and significance. But bias, indifference, and unintentional mistakes can lead to misidentification and mispronunciation. This film hopes to elevate the importance of a name, and how meaningful gestures — like pronunciation and understanding its meaning — can create a greater sense of belonging for us all. _ _ _ _ _ Client: P&G Main Cast: Miru Kim Sina Yoon Harry Han Pietra Castro Mary Ella Young Matthew Graham Agency: R/GA ECD: Gabriel Cheung & Xavier Teo CD: Leah Alfonso Art Director: Woohyun Lim Copywriter: Maya Shaddock Agency Producer: Greg Netter Account Director: Sonal Heda Director: Goh Iromoto Production: Sanctuary Content EP: Kristen Beddard Johnson / Noah Thomason / Preston Lee Service Co: Capital Media Company EP: Christian Allen / Krista Thompson Line Producer: Claire McGirr PM: Tai Scott PC: Ange Pegg 1st AD: Nathan Valente Cinematographer: Farhad Ghaderi 1st AC: Mikael Bidard Key Grip: Wil Parrott Gaffer: Greg Goudreau Casting: Sean Milliken Wardrobe Stylist: Tanus Lewis H&M: Shannon Reynolds Production Designer: Katherine Reynolds Props Master: Mike Kearsley Cultural Consultant: Phil Cha Locations: Dave Pink & Nick Rappard Sound Mixer: Roderick Matte Script Supervisor: Claudia Morgado DIT: Luke Campbell VTR: Anthony Kronstein Editorial: Cartel Editor: Sophia Lou Assistant Editor: John Osment Offline Producer: Denice Hutton Colour Facility: Ethos Colourist: Kaitlyn Battistelli Colour Producer: Sam Cesan Flame Artist: Chris Homel Finish Producer: Shelli Jury Audio Mix: Heard City Audio Mixer: Jeremy Siegel Music Composer: Andrew Seistrup Shot On: Alexa Mini + Zeiss Super Speed / Cooke Anamorphics _ _ _ _ _

Fifty years later, the pop singer T.Y.M. releases a highly-successful cover. “Charlotte” follows the fall-out of this pop song on the lives of the Black family, including Lena Black, her daughter Diane, and her 11-year-old grandson, Eli. “Charlotte” is this week’s Staff Pick Premiere. It takes the first 5-6 miles for the “bird’s nest” in Erin McGrady’s head to unravel. And then, putting one foot in front of the other, the photographer and writer works to create and celebrate safe spaces for others in the queer community. Together, with her wife Caroline Whatley, in spite all they are up against as queer women in the South, they turn their attention toward the joy they get from traveling and creating community.

People talk about yard sales, objects, and memories. This is my 3rd year film at CalArts! The audio in this film is from people I interviewed at yard sales around Santa Clarita. I would like to give a special thank you to everyone who took part in my interviews — their voices are what truly made this film what it is. The misty forests above North Vancouver, British Columbia are hallowed ground for mountain biking, a place so harrowing it’s influenced every aspect of the sport for over 30 years. It’s also where Betty Birrell, at age 45, picked up mountain biking after a career as a mountaineer and professional windsurfer. Three decades later, the single mother is a role model for her son, her friends and anyone she’s met along the way—and proof that you’re never too old to send. Directed and Produced by Travis Rummel // felt soul media and Darcy Hennessy // Well Travelled Collective Shot by Scott Secco, Joey Schusler and Travis Rummel Edited by Nico Bovat // Friendly Neighbor Score by Jeff Melanson // Friendly Neighbor Color by Dave Tomiak // Elemental Post Sound Design and Mix by Dave Graham // SDG Audio Executive Producers Monika McClure, Alex Lowther, Jimmy Hopper and Sakeus Bankson // Patagonia Films

An animated documentary for Red Bull Surfing’s mini series ‘In Plain Sight’. Surfing’s history – from Africa to Polynesia to the Americas – is one that’s rich, diverse, and incredibly nuanced. So much so, that we are only beginning to scratch the surface and understand it. Voiced by Selema Masekela, the film explores the varied roots of surfing’s origin and its subsequent cultural evolution into what we recognise today. In partnership with 1 Planet One People, a collective activation that supports climate action, racial and social equality.
