An experimental timelapse video created for http://bit.ly/1zCgEp0, a Kickstarter quest (April 3 – May 9th, 2015) designed to explore the effects and dangers of urban light pollution in contrast with some of the most incredible Dark Sky Preserves in North America. Learn what you can do to help! Please contribute to the SKYGLOW campaign now or before May 9th if you can or help us spread the word, so we can all help save the night skies! See / Embed our “Call to Action” video here: http://bit.ly/1zCgEp1. Inspired by the “Darkened Cities” stills project by Thierry Cohen, this short film imagines the galaxy over the glowing metropolis of Los Angeles through composited timelapse and star trail astrophotography. Shot by Gavin Heffernan (http://bit.ly/1O7Vx9S) and Harun Mehmedinovic (www.Bloodhoney.com). SKYGLOW is endorsed by the International Dark Sky Association www.darksky.org/. In 2012 Penguin Books published Vahram Muratyan’s book called “Paris versus NewYork”. Being huge fans of Vahram’s work, Nord Collective always wanted to create animated version of the book. To make this tribute real we couldn’t just use original illustrations directly, so we used Vahram’s ideas as base, completely reworked design and illustrations trying to keep visual similarity to original, animated all scenes and asked our dear friend The Cosmic Setter to write and perform original music and sound design for this project.
