A human-powered discovery engine
ARTWALK began on Twitter as a virtual art crawl in 2009 as a way to have fun online and share the experience of discovering new works by contemporary artists from around the world. Along the way, founder Kim Sherrell continued the quest for new ways to use the tools of real-time media to remove the barriers between the artist and their public.
In late 2013, ARTWALK evolved from a monthly event into more of an asynchronous format where everyone can appreciate and enjoy the work at their leisure. Today, the emphasis is still very much on discovering new works by practicing artists, and as always, trying answer the question: “what’s happening right now?”
